On this tour, you will meet your certified glacier guide at a base camp close to Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in the country’s southeast corner. After introductions, you will board a large vehicle known as a super jeep. These cars have been specially modified to handle the rough road that leads up Vatnajökull Glacier to the ice cave.

While travelling up the glacier, your guide will tell you all about glaciers and their surrounding environment. The Crystal Cave is different from other ice caves in the region. It is the only one of its kind cold enough to be open in the autumn as well as the winter.

Once you are up the glacier, your guide will help you put on the glacier gear needed for the trip. You are, after all, about to walk on ice, so a pair of crampons to slip onto your boots is very helpful. You will also get a helmet with a headlamp in case the cave is too dark.

The guide will then lead you into the bright blue ice cave. Here you can spend some time exploring this natural wonder, take pictures, and simply enjoy being immersed in the wild Icelandic nature. This tour is weather dependent and can be cancelled with short notice due to safety reasons. In case of cancellation by the provider, you can choose to participate in another one of their tours or get a full refund.
Appropriate footwear and suitable outdoor clothing must be worn at all times during the tour. The provider reserves the right to refuse participation if not correctly equipped since this will put the clients at risk. In case of refusal, refund will not be possible.
