Overview

Explore the mystical Snæfellsnes Peninsula on this immersive day tour. See the natural attractions which have inspired artists for centuries, from writers of classic novels to creators of Hollywood fantasy series. This is the perfect excursion for a group of friends or families looking for an unforgettable journey in the land of ice and fire.

You will meet your friendly guide when they pick you up in the morning. The maximum number of participants on this tour is only eight people. This provides you with a more intimate experience and more time for the guide to share their extensive local knowledge with you.

After travelling through the western countryside, you will notice the scenery beginning to change from open farmlands to rugged lava fields. You will, undoubtedly, also notice the massive glacier-covered volcano, Snæfellsjökull, towering over the area. In literature, this 700,000-year-old volcano served as the entrance to the subterranean adventures in Jules Verne’s classic novel Journey to the Centre of the Earth

Your first stop on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula is at a lookout where you can see the sparkling lake Selvallavatn and the surrounding lava fields. Here, your guide will lead you to a hidden waterfall which is often overlooked by visitors in the area.

You will then head to the charming harbour town of Stykkishólmur for lunch — which is included in the price of this tour. You will stop at a cosy little restaurant before continuing on your journey to the nearby Kirkjufell mountain.

This iconic mountain and the nearby waterfall are the most photographed features in Snæfellsnes, perhaps even the country. Fans of the HBO television show Game of Thrones might also recognise Mt. Kirkjufell as ‘the mountain like an arrowhead’, found north of the Wall.

Next up is the little fishing hamlet of Arnarstapi where you’ll find strange rock formations, coves, and sea cliffs which are teeming with birds. From there you’ll travel to the hauntingly beautiful Búðakirkja Church. Snap a few photos of the jet-black church with the white Snæfellsjökull Glacier in the background before returning to Reykjavík.

Journey around the Snæfellsnes Peninsula and have your own fantastic adventures on this amazing day tour. Book now and secure your spot on this fun-filled tour.
