About Summer Holiday Packages

Summer Holiday Packages allow you to experience Iceland’s blossoming nature, warmer temperatures, and longer days.

These seasonal packages are available as Self-Drive Tours — where you are behind the wheel — Guided Small-Group Minibus Tours, and Privately Guided Tours

Self-Drive Tours are perfect for those looking to explore on their own; those who like to set their own schedule and love the freedom of the open road.

Guided tours, on the other hand, are great for visitors who like to sit back and relax. A local English-speaking guide will drive you around, showing you their favourite spots and sharing some secrets about this beautiful land.

Summer weather in Iceland is both warmer and milder than in the winter. This means many roads that are closed in the winter are easily accessible, allowing you to explore off the beaten path.

Summer Holiday Packages provide you with the opportunity to visit both some of Iceland’s most remote regions, including East Iceland and the Highlands, as well as popular stops such as the Golden Circle, Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, and Lake Mývatn.

What's Included in Your Summer Holiday Package

Included in both Self-Drives and Guided Tours are all accommodations and transportation, which will be booked before you arrive. We will take care of all of the arrangements, so all you need to think about is what to pack.

You will also receive a personal itinerary which will tell you about the places you will see on your summer holiday in Iceland.

Summer Holiday Package Activity Options

Frequently asked questions

There are many reasons why you should visit Iceland in the summer. From the midnight sun illuminating the evening sky, allowing you more time to explore and sightsee, to the adorable puffins which make this island their temporary home. The remote Highland region and the secluded Westfjords are also accessible in the summer months. The weather is much warmer than in the winter. Still, you will also have a chance to experience snow and ice with various glacier activities such as snowmobiling or glacier hiking.

No,  unfortunately, the northern lights cannot be seen in the summer months since the midnight sun lights up the sky in May, June, July and early August, and you need complete darkness to witness the Auroras. You can, however, see them in the winter, from September to early April.

Puffins make this island their home between April and August each year. You can see puffins all around Iceland, and the most popular places are the Westman Islands, Látrabjarg Cliffs in the Westfjords, Dyrhólaey Peninsula in South Iceland, and Borgarfjörður Eystri in East Iceland. You can also join a puffin watching tour (and combine it with a whale watching tour) both in Reykjavík and in North Iceland.

The road conditions in the summer are very good, and so a 4×4 is not necessary. However, if you plan on driving the mountain roads (or F-Roads), you will need a car with a four-wheel-drive. It is always a good practice to check road conditions, just to be prepared — even in the summer.

The Icelandic weather can be very fickle, even in the summer. When packing, it is best to be prepared for anything. We suggest you bring clothes you can layer. That way, you can easily add a layer or remove one for optimal comfort. Here is a list of what you should bring on a summer holiday in Iceland:

    • Wind and waterproof jacket
    • Warm inner layers such as long sleeve shirts and jumpers
    • Wind and waterproof trousers
    • Sturdy walking shoes
    • Gloves, hat (beanie) and scarf
    • Thermal underwear (especially if travelling into the Highlands)
    • Swimsuit and towel
