This new sequel season is called Entrapped and is set to take place two years after the ending of the second season.

Who’s in it?

Entrapped sees both Ólafur Darri Ólafsson and Ilmur Kristjánsdóttir reprise their roles of police officers Andri and Hinrika.

In the new season, police duo Andri and Hinrika travel into the remote Highlands of Iceland where two rival groups are fighting over some land.

The first group is nicknamed ‘The Extended Family’, a neopagan and peaceful sect led by Oddur (Egill Ólafsson), their founder and spiritual guide. They believe the land is sacred and have raised camp to be close to their heathen gods.

Their rivals for the site are a group of Icelandic bikers who call to Iceland a Danish biker gang, led by Hopper (Thomas Bo Larsen), to help them take ownership of the land.

The altercation between these groups leads to the death of a young man named Ívar (Auðunn Lúthersson). As it turns out, the victim is known to our protagonist, Andri, who then feels obligated to returns North to join Hinrika to investigate the murder.

Previous seasons of Trapped have featured some stunning landscape shots of Iceland. The first season was set in the North in a fictional unnamed town. However, most of the location shots were filmed in the little village of Seyðisfjörður.

Season two of Trapped took place in Reykjavík, but the plot reached North Iceland again.

Little is yet known about the filming locations of Entrapped, but star Ólafur Darri Ólafsson took to Instagram earlier in October to post a few pictures of Seyðisfjörður using the hashtag #trappedseason3.

He also posted a picture of the harbour town Hafnarfjörður, located in the capital area with the caption “Hafnarfjöður city at dawn! Trapped season 3 has started filming…”

Seeing that Season 3 takes place in the Highlands, audiences can expect some beautiful shots of this Icelandic wilderness when Entrapped finally hits our screen once again.
